This meta-analysis of several studies published in the Journal of Pediatrics estimates that “the odds of GI symptoms in children with ASD are four times more prevalent than for children without ASD.” The analysis indicated higher levels of GI symptoms in all four areas including general GI concerns, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain.
