Giving Tuesday – a new way to support TACA

What comes after Thanksgiving Thursday? Black Friday. Cyber Monday. Nonprofit organizations across the country hope- Giving Tuesday.
Just as Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become cultural traditions in the United States, organizers hope the inaugural #GivingTuesday will become a national holiday- a holiday celebrating the joy of giving.
What does it mean to give? It's different for each of us. Some of us give money, some give time, some give resources and some give their passion toward a cause.
Tuesday November 27, 2012, has been selected as the national day that nonprofit organizations, charities, families, businesses and individuals will join together to transform the way people think about, talk about and participate in this season of giving.
It’s a simple idea really. Find a way for your family, your community, or your company to join in an act of giving. #GivingTuesday is your opportunity to tell everyone what you support and why it is important. You can opt to support TACA in a variety of ways – you can donate, volunteer, provide a valuable service or lend your voice through advocacy.
This holiday season, hundreds of nonprofit organizations across the U.S. hope that consumers will start a new tradition by opening their wallets one more time after their post-Thanksgiving shopping. But instead of buying, they want them to give to charity.
Whether #GivingTuesday is a landslide success, or simply an amazing awareness piece is yet to be seen. But I believe a national movement that asks people to focus on the underserved in our community will be a gift that all of us can use.
