Divorce: Plan for the worst, hope for the best
Plan for the worst, hope for the best. Put it all in writing.
Your state may offer appropriate or even great services today, but with budget cuts and changes happening all the time, you cannot guarantee that those services will be there in a year for your child, so just because summer camp is paid for today, doesn't mean it will be in two years.
Make sure your divorce agreement is thorough and well-written so as to not leave anything open to interpretation. Make sure it includes everything from school, health insurance, life insurance, college, driving/transportation, camp, therapies, medical, special needs trust, adult living needs and expenses, physical safety and more.
