Instant Oatmeal Packets - GFCFSF

Below are only a few flavors and you can make any flavors you can imagine by following just a few rules. The main rule is to keep all of the ingredients DRY, as dry as possible, so freeze dried fruits are better than just dried fruits in many cases.

Base recipe for plain Oatmeal for ONE serving:
1/3 cup Instant GF Oats
1 teaspoon ground flax meal
1 teaspoon chia seed
2 teaspoons Psyllium Husks
1-3 teaspoons brown sugar, maple sugar, sucanat, coconut sugar or other preferred dry sweetener
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon vanilla powder or make your own*
pinch of salt

Base Recipe for plain oatmeal for 25 servings:
10 cups (one 32oz bag) Instant GF Oats
2/3 cup ground flax meal
2/3 cup chia seed
1-1/3 cups Psyllium Husks
1-1/2 cups brown sugar, maple sugar, sucanat, coconut sugar or other preferred dry sweetener
4 teaspoons cinnamon
2 Tablespoons vanilla powder or make your own*
1 Tablespoon of salt

I make the 25 bag quantity, scoop 1/2 cup of the mix into snack size bags, then add the flavorings to each bag and label. Squeeze out all the excess air you can and store in a cool, dry place.

*To make your own vanilla powder, dry/dehydrate a vanilla bean (or leave it out, uncovered, a few days until it's hard), break it up and put it into a coffee grinder with a 1 tablespoon organic sugar and grind until fine.

To make: Boil 3/4 cup water and mix oatmeal into water. Let sit 2 minutes, then stir and eat.

Flavors:

Peanut Butter and Jelly: 1 tablespoon dry Peanut Butter Powder and dried Goji Berries or dried/dehydrated berries of your choosing

Mocha: 1 teaspoon good instant espresso powder (like Starbucks Via) and 1 teaspoon good organic cocoa powder

Cranberry-Walnut: 1 tablespoon chopped walnuts, 2 tablespoons dried sulfite-free cranberries, pinch nutmeg

Blueberry-Almond-Lavender: 2 tablespoons dried sulfite-free blueberries, 1 tablespoon sliced almonds, 1 teaspoon dried lavendar flowers, crushed

Macadamia-Pineapple-Ginger-Mango: 2 tablespoons dried sulfite-free pineapple, 1 tablespoon crystallized ginger, chopped, 2 tablespoon macadamia nuts, chopped and 2 tablespoons dried sulfite-free mango, chopped

Apricot-Ginger: 2 tablespoons dried sulfite-free apricots, chopped and 1 tablespoon crystallized ginger, chopped

Target carries a line of sulfite-free dried and freeze-dried fruits, available nationally, called Simply Balanced.
