Spiced Onion Rings

  • 1 onion, sliced very thin (you can use red or white onion, I mix half and half)
  • 1/2 cup GF "Tabasco-Type" hot sauce (Franks is GF)
  • 1 cup GFCFSF flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • oil for frying (peanut, safflower, sunflower, canola)

 

Slice onions very thin (about 1/8"). Mix onions with hot sauce and let marinate 20 minutes to an hour.  Heat oil on medium high.  Mix salt into flour.  Working in batches, dredge onions in flour, shake off excess and fry until golden.  Remove to paper-toweled plate.  Repeat until all are done.

These are great on cheeseburgers, mashed potatoes (oh my), green bean casserole, etc.  Despite using "hot" sauce, these are not very hot at all.
