CRYSTAL LAKE CHAPTER MEETING

Benefits of Neurofeedback

Saturday, November 17, 2012

Speaker: Ann Rigby, Director of The Neuroconnection

Ann Rigby, Director of The Neuroconnection, will discuss the benefits of neurofeeback. The Neuroconnection staff are experts in advanced, research-based connectivity-guided neurofeedback, which trains specific regions of the brain. Unlike neurofeedback in the past that trained power abnormalities at specific sites in the brain, connectivity-guided neurofeedback improves the brain’s ability to communicate with itself within regions of the brain. This is important because symptoms associated with autism and learning disabilities are caused in part from a deficiency in the neuropathways in certain regions of the brain. Using multiple normative databases and other ways of analyzing the QEEG data, we create a brain map. From this, we can view the way the brain is communication with itself and develop the correct training protocols specific to the individual.

Ann Rigby is a licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 24 years in the mental health field, working with children to adults, families, and couples. She has specialized training in the areas of Attention Deficit Disorders, trauma, and addictions. Ms. Rigby earned her MSW at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to entering private practice in 1997, she worked in hospitals and outpatient settings and held supervisory positions within them. Ms. Rigby has also been a field placement instructor for graduate students. She is board certified in EEG biofeedback (BCN) through the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America. She earned a two-year postgraduate certification in Family Therapy and is certified by the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW). Ms. Rigby is on the board of the Autism Society of Illinois. She is a member of the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR), the Association of Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB), The Biofeedback Certification Institute of America (BCIA), and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW)
