NORTH DAKOTA CHAPTER MEETING

Harlem Globetrotters Team up with TACA

Friday, January 4, 2013

The Harlem Globetrotters are once again teaming up with TACA North Dakota. TACA families can purchase tickets at a discounted price of $21.50 (regular $29) for group seating so that your family can be seated with other families who understand the Autism Journey and the challenges that sometimes come on that journey.

Not only that, TACA kids will be treated to special pre-game seats on the players’ bench. And not only that, TACA Kids will be forming a Fan Tunnel to give High 5's to players as they come onto the court after half-time. There may be more fun in store as plans are finalized.

RSVP is required. You can purchase your tickets by calling Whitney at 800-641-4667 Ext: 152. Let her know you’re a TACA North Dakota family and she will help you out.

This is an opportunity for your family to practice attending a social event surrounded by families who are also on the Autism Journey. After tickets are purchased, you can email janice.kern@tacanow.org for a copy of Social Stories specific to the Harlem Globetrotters event. Social stories are a great way to help your family prepare for an outing.

TACA is committed to ensuring equal participation of all its members. Please contact us if you will require an accommodation to participate in this activity.

TACA Table Talk

Monday, January 28, 2013

  • 6:30 PM
  • Ruby Tuesday - Ask for the "TACA Table"
    32nd Avenue South
    Grand Forks, ND
  • Driving Directions

This month, you will be receiving a special gift from TACA. Volunteer Coordinators, Jalene and Janice, have many things in common with all autism parents. They like information, inspiration, and most of all, hope.
They've selected two of their favorite books that include all three. You will be the recipient of the first of these two books on January 28th "A Child's Journey Out of Autism" by LeeAnne Whiffen. After an introduction by Jalene you will be excited to start reading. We will plan to discuss the book at our February TACA Table.

As usual, all parents, professionals and caregivers and welcome to attend. There will be appetizers served up along with lots of support served 'TACA style'.

To have a seat ready and waiting for you, please RSVP for this TACA event.

How TACA Helps North Dakota Families

TACA does not charge admission to the meetings, nor does it assess annual membership fees for families it supports. Meetings feature:

  • Free TACA Autism Journey Guides (over 750 pages of collective knowledge gathered from experienced paraprofessionals and parents) are offered to all
  • Speakers on topics ranging from traditional therapies, integrated medical treatments, education, and legal support.
  • TACA's Parent Mentors - one-on-one access to experienced families who have successfully navigated the challenges of finding appropriate treatments and educational opportunities for their children, and who receive additional education from TACA's Foundation Office.
