Speaker: Mitchel D. Perlman, PhD
When it comes to assessments, one size does not fit all. Dr. Perlman will review the differences between the assessments that qualify for Federal Assistance (SSI), for State Assistance (Regional Center), for Local Assistance (Special Education), and for Insurance Reimbursement. The most salient issues for each assessment type will be highlighted, as well as the most common misinterpretations that result in ill-fated recommendations (e.g., the wrong processes being targeted for intervention, the wrong placement being offered, a denial of services). Particular attention will be given to how you can prepare for those assessments and to what you can provide to the examiner to increase the odds of your obtaining services or reimbursement.
Tired of receiving denials for services? Care to shift at least some of the odds toward service/funding approvals? Of course you are! Join, then, Dr. Mitch Perlman, in his session on Assessments that Get Services.
There are four primary funding agencies:
- at the Federal level, Supplemental Security Income (SSI),
- at the State level, Regional Center,
- at the Local Level, the School District,
- at the Private Level, your Insurance Carrier.
Each of those funding agencies have specific requirements that need to be addressed before funding for services may be approved. Assessments for each of those agencies, then, must be differentially tailored to address those specific requirements.
In his session on Assessments that Get Services, for each of those agencies, Dr. Perlman will review the most salient issues, along with the most common misinterpretations that result in ill-fated recommendations (e.g., the wrong processes being targeted for intervention, the wrong placement being offered, a denial of services). Particular attention will be given to how you can prepare for those assessments and to what you can provide to
the examiner to increase the odds of your obtaining services or reimbursement. |
