Speaker: Kat Vaughan from Lindamood-Bell

Kat Vaughan (MBA) is a Center Director with Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes in San Rafael, Ca. She’s held this position for three years. In the summer of 2010 Kat also launched a Lindamood-Bell seasonal summer clinic in Santa Rosa, Ca. Her background in education includes directing a middle school and forming a non-profit to support education and charitable projects in Guatemala.

This presentation includes a thorough description of a language-processing paradigm based on Dual Coding Theory, a widely accepted Theory that explains the connection between imagery, language and cognition. Results are provided taken from schools and private learning centers that have used specific programs that develop imagery and apply it to reading and comprehension. Also included are results from students who have been diagnosed with Autism.

TACA does not charge admission to the meetings, nor does it assess annual membership fees for families it supports. Meetings feature:

  • Free TACA Autism Journey Guides (over 300 pages of collective knowledge gathered from experienced paraprofessionals and parents) are offered to all parents of who are attending their first Chapter meeting.
  • Speakers on topics ranging from traditional therapies, integrated medical treatments, education, and legal support.
  • TACA's Parent Mentors - one-on-one access to experienced families who have successfully navigated the challenges of finding appropriate treatments and educational opportunities for their children, who receive additional education from TACA's Foundation Office.
