Behavior & the IEP
When behavior interferes with learning, it may be a sign that a student needs additional support – not simply discipline.
Join us for a TACA SoCal Legal Clinic: Behavior & the IEP to learn how to address behavioral needs through the IEP process and what parents should know when behavior begins impacting their child’s education.
We’ll discuss Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), behavior goals, positive behavioral supports, and school discipline. Families will also learn how to recognize when challenging behavior may indicate an unmet educational, communication, sensory, or support need.
Topics will include:

-When to request additional assessment
-Behavior, suspension, and school discipline
-What to do when a current behavior plan isn’t working
