“My one is Colt. He suffered from autoimmune encephalitis and small fiber neuropathy and even lost the ability to walk part of the day. If it wasn’t for TACA and a willing neurologist, I don’t know where he would be today. IVIG has been monumental in his healing. He has been mastering communication using his letterboard. He can enjoy his life again and be a beautiful 9-year-old boy! Here he is advocating for his health to his neurologist. — ALEXSIS, TACA MOM”
“More than 25 years ago, TACA began on the living room floor of founder Lisa Ackerman’s home, when she was searching for answers, support, and hope for her son. What started with ONE child grew into a community that now supports thousands of families navigating autism. 1 in 31 children are diagnosed with autism. Every ONE has a story. My ONE is Jeff. My rock star. Six times, we were told he would require outside-home placement. Through hard work, perseverance, and determination, Jeff has achieved milestones that once seemed impossible. He drives, is a published musician, a high school and college graduate, and works. His future is bright. He inspires me every day with what he can do- and what he will continue to do. Never say never. — LISA, TACA CO-FOUNDER”
“My 1 in 31 is Aristotle. At the age of 2 he was not talking, after completing ECI til age 3 and going thru in home ABA Therapy. He went from having daily meltdowns to being able to self regulate. He did not show the typical signs of Autism and learned to mask his differences quickly when he started school. He is now thriving in a general education class with inclusion support, loves to have fun, loves to build, loves to make jokes, and has grown and overcome so much! Im so grateful for all the help getting him to where he is and I look forward to seeing what amazing things our boy will do! — KATHRYNE, TACA MOM”
