My 1 in 31 is Logan. He’s 5 and loves transformers. He struggles with language using echolalia and is a gestalt language processor. He has come so far and works hard everyday. He loves geography and can tell you all the continents, how many countries, and the populations, and any major monuments that reside. He has asked me on multiple occasions to go see the statue of liberty, mount rushmore, big Ben lol. He started out with an AAC device which he doesn’t use as his voice but uses for sentence structure, vocabulary, and jokes… he learned to tell jokes with it. He’s PDA which feels like a constant struggle for him at times but it seems like he’s starting to use equalizing behavior in place of full meltdown when he feels that overwhelming loss of autonomy, which I’m fine with because at least that equalizing behavior is something I can quickly read and accommodate, so in my opinion it feels like it’s used as a regulation tactic, which is a win in my book.
