IEPs: Our Annual Review

7:00 - 9:00 PM
Severna Park Baptist Church
506 Benfield Rd.
Severna Park, MD

Two years ago, the Supreme Court raised the bar for IEPs in the Endrew F. vs. Douglas County School District decision. In a unanimous ruling, the court found that IEP teams are required to develop programs for students that aim for more than minimal progress.
So what does that mean in English, and how does that affect your child's IEP?
Carolyn Fiume, an attorney, experienced advocate, and parent of a teenager with autism, will translate. She will cover the requirements schools must follow under federal law, as well as strategies parents can use to navigate IEP meetings and ensure their students making more than minimal progress. We'll allow plenty of time for Q&A, so if you're struggling to resolve issues with your IEP team, bring your stories and we'll troubleshoot with you.
