Shazi Visram, CEO and founder of Happy Family, recently donated $50,000 to support Talk About Curing Autism (TACA) (http://tacanow.org/), a national non-profit organization with a mission to educate, empower and provide support to families affected by autism.
Headquartered in New York, Happy Family is one of the leading premium organic food brands delivering optimal nutrition for the entire family.
“Supporting TACA is extremely important to me as I have a child of my own who was diagnosed with autism,” said Visram. “I am honored to be able to help families in need of the support TACA offers during a most challenging time whether it’s just hearing the word ‘autism’ for the first time to understanding all the therapies and treatments available to staying the course and staying strong for our children. For us, TACA most importantly gave us the hope for a better life.”
Visram’s goal for Happy Family was to create a business that could positively impact the health of children everywhere and give back to those who are in need. Each time a Happy Family product is purchased, a starving child in Africa is fed through Project Peanut Butter. Happy Family is recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in the country by Inc. Magazine for two years running and was named as Fast Company’s 2012 “Rockstar of the New Economy.”
TACA has been providing services since 2000 and all of the programs and services are provided at no or little cost to families. All donations help support these programs and services such as chapter monthly meetings, parent support, instant support via live chat, parent mentor programs, autism education events and materials, webinars, scholarship programs, Spanish outreach and services, up-to-date autism information available on TACA’s website and legal advocacy.
“Without the generosity we’ve received over the years from corporations, community organizations and individuals, our programs and services to families affected by autism wouldn’t exist,” said Lisa Ackerman, executive director/founder of TACA. “All donations, whether big or small, help keep our TACA mission alive.”
