Description
This presentation highlights the critical role of assessments in special education, emphasizing that assessments identify goals, which drive services. It covers various evaluations, including academic, cognitive, behavioral, speech-language, and occupational therapy and specialized assessments for non-speakers, students with autism, and those with auditory processing challenges. Participants will learn how to identify necessary assessments, request evaluations, and understand Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs). Using assessment data, families and educators will gain strategies to set effective IEP goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). By the end, attendees will be able to advocate confidently and develop meaningful IEP goals supporting student success.
