For many families, autism is more than a developmental diagnosis; it’s a medical journey marked by overlapping and often misunderstood health challenges. This session will introduce the foundational principles of functional medicine, a whole-body approach that seeks to identify and address the root causes of chronic conditions commonly seen in autism. We’ll then dive deeper into advanced topics, including immune system dysfunction, mitochondrial disorders, seizures, anxiety, chronic infections, glutamate imbalance, and more.
Parents and caregivers will gain insight into how these medical issues may impact behavior, development, and overall well-being, as well as the steps that can be taken to identify and treat them. We’ll also provide guidance on building an individual care plan and working with the right providers to meet your child’s unique medical needs.
