This year, Sophia received a national award at her school, Riverview school of Cape Cod. Sophia was chosen for the national citizenship award based on her community involvement with Special Olympics, Challenger Club, adaptive choir group, Surf Gnome and working with her life skills coach in our community. This is Sophia’s fourth year at Riverview school and is a junior. Sophia has overcome many obstacles with speech, emotions and behaviors. She has come along way from her original diagnoses in 2009 of moderate severe autism. As her mom, I’m grateful she has been very responsive to many biomedical interventions and various therapies.

Today, Sophia has many friends and executive functioning which qualifies her for placement at a private school which is often considered the
Harvard of special education.
