Father Honors Late Son’s Love for Godzilla Movies By Creating a Fundraiser to Benefit The Autism Community in Action

Irvine, CA (March 15, 2021) - George Munoz's son Matthew was an avid Godzilla fan, and had plans to see the new, "Godzilla vs Kong" movie before he became gravely ill with the flu and passed away on February 4, 2020 at the age of 23. To honor his son's memory, Munoz is championing an online fundraiser to benefit The Autism Community in Action (TACA). The fundraiser will launch on March 31, the premiere date of Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures' new adventure epic in the Godzilla franchise.

Matthew was diagnosed with autism at the age of two and although he struggled, he never allowed the challenges of autism to break his joyful spirit. He loved people and it showed by the strong relationships he formed with his schoolmates, aides, and teachers. He was a true Godzilla fan, having seen every Godzilla movie and collecting hundreds of Godzilla and King Kong movie memorabilia.

"My family and I thought of creating a fundraiser to honor Matthew's memory by highlighting a movie that was his final wish to see, in addition to focusing on autism awareness and supporting TACA's work to provide education, support and hope to families living with autism," said Mr. Munoz.
